Patient Participation Group

Welcome to the New Queen Street and Stanground Surgeries’ Patient Participation Group (PPG)

The group’s role is:

  • to act as a liaison between patients, doctors, staff and other health-related organisations
  • to encourage self help
  • to promote patients' needs and interests
  • to support the Practice

New Queen Street and Stanground PPG is an independent group of volunteers who are all registered patients. They meet regularly, set their own agenda and activities and regularly liaise with staff at the practice, who attend their meetings. The group liaises regularly with practice managers to raise and understand any issues on behalf of patients. The Chairs of all Lakeside PPGs are also invited to attend a regular meeting with the Partnership’s Chief Executive to share issues and hear updates.

The PPG is currently recruiting for new members. If you would like to be a member please get in touch using our secure online form

Thank you for today’s meeting, was lovely to see you all. I have an update on the actions for you:

  • Leaflets on cars: More than happy to do this, is this is something you are happy to do, if so please let us know dates etc. so we can arrange it
  • Signage: The signs are very expensive and we are not happy to purchase more signs at this point if we are looking at Parking Cameras as we will need to pay for the signage for them
  • Reception queue: I have spoken with the staff member about ringing for help when there is a queue
  • Sinking slabs in patient entrance: I have let Emily the Ops manager know and have asked her to check when she is back to work on Monday
  • Shrubs: I will double check with Emily again to ensure this is not our area but last time she assured me it was not
  • Boots patients with parking cameras: The patients can park in the car park opposite when collecting prescriptions as this is what they should be doing anyway if they are not attending the Surgery
  • Massive thank you for the £200 donation to the Surgery, we will be discussing in the next partners meeting what we can buy, once we know we can update you all
  • Huge thank you for the hard work with the fundraising from all the Management & Partners

  • Jess’s Rule Life saving rule to be advertised in every surgery, posters are being rolled out by the government. This is in honour of Jessica Brady who died of cancer aged 27 in December 2020, after having more than 20 appointments and not been given a true diagnosis or symptoms explained. This is to ensure that after 3 appointments GPs are supported to find treatment to save a life
