Men's Health Week at Lakeside 13-17 June 2022
Lakeside Healthcare is supporting the international initiative, Men’s Health Week, which highlights the importance of regular MOT health checks, exercise and networking.
The event, which runs annually in the week leading up to Father’s Day, is a way of supporting our male colleagues and putting them in touch with advice and information that aligns to the Men’s Health Forum guidance and resources, including on mental health awareness, heart health, diet and suicide prevention.
In order to raise awareness and support, our Talent Business Partner, Kerryann Smith, has spearheaded the initiative across all Lakeside Healthcare practices by producing a range of posters highlighting a different topic each day and including free resources for all our employees to take away and share.
- 1 in 8 men will experience depression
- 1 man in 5 dies before the age of 65
She said: ‘We wanted to highlight some of the main concerns men have around their health, lifestyle and mental wellbeing by encouraging all of our colleagues to get involved in Men’s Health week, whether that is by checking out some of the website advice and statistics, or else by sharing the flyers to encourage family and loved ones to be aware of their health and to carry out important self-care.
‘We know that men are not the most vocal or forthcoming about some aspects of health and wellbeing so we wanted to ensure that we support this important initiative and to let our male colleagues know that we care. There are so many free resources out there and by pulling them together this information is easily accessible. We have focused on healthy eating, self-care and mental wellbeing but have also included some fun things such as podcasts and apps.’
